Injectables Q & A

What types of injectables can I get?

Reviva offers two main types of injectables to make you look younger for several months to a year. You can use them to try out a new potential look for future surgeries or get them regularly to maintain an improved appearance.

Your provider injects Botox into your face near your wrinkles. The drug’s active ingredient, botulinum toxin, stops your muscles from receiving the nerve signals that tell them to flex. It’s this flexing that causes wrinkles to form.

Fillers lend structure to your face and can reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Their main purpose is to add volume to your face or simply smooth deep wrinkles that make you look older.

How can injectables change my face?

A few strategically placed injectables can subtly yet noticeably alter your appearance. At your consultation with your doctor at Reviva Medical Aesthetics, you can describe which parts of your face you’d like to improve to find out if injectables are the best way to meet your goals. Botox primarily smooths wrinkles and lines to make you look more awake.

Dermal fillers, however, have more applications. They can:

  • Smooth wrinkles and lines
  • Fill in for volume loss in your cheeks
  • Give you fuller lips
  • Improve your face’s symmetry

When administered correctly by an experienced physician, your injectables give you a natural look that isn’t frozen or unfamiliar. You look like yourself, but you feel a new confidence.

What risks are associated with injectables?

Across the board, cosmetic injectables like Botox and fillers are safer than surgery because they’re minimally invasive. However, it’s important to take note of their risks before you jump in for your treatment.

While most injections go smoothly when a licensed professional gives them, there is a slight risk that you’ll have a negative reaction to them. If you notice any unusual side effects after your injections beyond some minor redness or swelling, you should call Reviva as soon as you can.

Of course, there’s also a risk that your results won’t look the way you want. In this case, you can wait until the effects go away or gently massage the area to spread the filler more evenly. Otherwise, some fillers can be reversed with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

If you enjoy the wisdom that comes with getting older, but would rather not have the wrinkles and other appearance changes, call Reviva Medical Aesthetics or book an appointment online to discuss your options for injectables.
